Nigrum Corpus is a project that uses the language of medicine to reveal a disease that has never appeared in medical books: structural racism in healthcare.
Inspired by the aesthetics of classical anatomical manuals, the project presents 20 fictional diseases created from real testimonies of discrimination experienced by Black patients. Clinical files, microscope slides, scientific posters, and educational materials were developed to simulate a real medical study, turning invisible experiences into evidence that cannot be ignored.
By transforming scientific coldness into a human narrative, Nigrum Corpus sparks reflection inside and outside universities and hospitals. More than a denunciation, the project proposes new ways of thinking about medical education, encouraging more inclusive and representative practices.
The Project demonstrates how science, education, and creativity can come together to challenge historical structures and contribute to a more equitable healthcare system.
