General Motors needed to reframe its master brand for a new era, honoring more than a century of innovation while asserting its relevance for the future. To achieve that, we needed a storytelling device powerful enough to unify more than 90,000 employees, shift external perceptions, and reveal the artistry behind how GM is building the future. Music became the central strategy, not as a soundtrack, but as a metaphor and narrative device. “See You on the Road”, is a cinematic rallying cry that flips the lens inward onto the people and processes that make GM iconic. Built on a bold musical concept, the film transforms the making of a car into the performance of a song to elevate the unseen artistry. At the heart of the execution is an intricate reinterpretation of Elvis Presley & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s “If I Can Dream”, a timeless anthem of aspiration. Instead of simply licensing the track, we reimagined it from the inside out. Obtaining the isolated stems, we deconstructed the song layer by layer. Each stem—strings, horns, percussion, vocals and more—was assigned to a different GM division, mirroring the way thousands of individual contributions form a single, unified outcome. We then meticulously choreographed real GM teams to match these musical components, capturing the rhythm, tension, precision, and harmony of their work as this fusion of craft and sound, born from the rework of this iconic track, became the film’s creative heartbeat. The execution demanded obsessive musical precision. Stems were reconstructed into an original arrangement designed to rise alongside the visuals and build meaning against each division. Additional sound design then blended factory atmospheres, machinery textures, and environmental details into the musical mix, creating a sonic language that feels both orchestral and industrial: part symphony, part factory floor. The result is music-driven storytelling where the track doesn’t support the narrative; it is the narrative. The music painted a portrait of GM’s collective craft, scale, collaboration, and ambition. Transforming an internal moment or rallying pride into a brand-wide emotional catalyst that set the foundation for GM’s broader brand repositioning.
