When consumers didn’t know Walmart had toys, we called on the world’s most famous toy thief— The Grinch— to change their minds. In classic Grinch fashion, he caused mischief, stealing from other brands’ ads, turning them into Walmart Black Friday Deals. In "How The Grinch Stole Your Ad," Walmart and the Grinch partnered to disrupt the holiday media landscape. In a series of intentional, high-impact media placements, the Grinch subverted traditional ad spaces, appearing to swipe toys from neighboring billboards and digital displays to reveal exclusive Walmart deals. From the high-traffic screens of Times Square to digital takeovers across the country, the campaign turned the entire city into a canvas for the Grinch’s mischief. By working closely with media partners to find creative, adjacent placements with high reach, Walmart didn't just join the Black Friday conversation—it hijacked it, creating a unique media landscape full of mischief and proving that when it comes to the best deals, the Grinch always knows where to find them.
