Don’t Stop Motion is a groundbreaking Government of Chile initiative that turned therapy into art to make rheumatoid arthritis visible and actionable. In Chile, over 200,000 people live with this incurable disease, which slowly limits movement and independence. Although public health covers medication and physiotherapy, many avoid treatment due to stigma or lack of awareness.
The campaign transformed a real therapeutic method, clay modeling exercises for hand mobility, into the creation of a stop‑motion animated short film. Over months of rehabilitation, patients molded characters and scenes, guided by physiotherapists and Oscar‑winning animators. Each frame was crafted by hands living with pain, embedding every gesture with resilience.
The film told their own stories without pity, ending with a direct call‑to‑action to access government platforms for physiotherapy and affordable medicine. Launched nationwide via TV, cinemas, social media, and public screens, it reached millions and sparked immediate engagement: 830,000 platform visits and over 500,000 medication inquiries.
Now part of Chile’s official public health education and present in all public clinics, the project continues to replicate therapy sessions with new patients, proving that nothing should stop the motion of those determined to keep living fully.
