A poster for Pat Howl's film "King of Dope"
As the film tells the tragic story of an ordinary student who almost overnight becomes one of the richest people in the country by selling "legal highs" (legal substitutes for common party drugs), the idea was to create a minimalist symbollic poster that would capture the essence of the film and be visually compelling for the arthouse cinema and film festival audience.
The poster echoes the qualities associated with the Polish Poster School - instead of showing literal scenes or characters from the film, it goes for one striking metaphor - a symbolic crown made of drugs and cocaine lines that would encapsulate the film in a simple single image.
