Victoria turned Día de Muertos into scripted entertainment by reimagining the Xoloitzcuintli legend; the sacred dog that guides souls to Mictlán, but this time through a modern truth: pets are lifelong companions. “Who is waiting for you?” follows a shopkeeper calle Jorge and Rogelio, his rescued dog, across a lifetime until Rogelio is the one waiting in the afterlife. Nearly speechless, the film lets the bond speak through action and an immersive soundscape built from everyday Mexico. Crafted as a cultural short film (not a commercial) and launched with cinema elements (trailers, posters, theatrical presence), it created a new audiovisual language for Día de Muertos beyond the category’s familiar clichés.
