Partnerships & Collaborations
For Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Netflix and Tiffany & Co. created a first-of-its-kind collaboration that brought nearly two centuries of high-jewelry craftsmanship into the film and carried that work across the campaign. Netflix brought the film, the filmmaker, the costume department, and the global platform. Tiffany & Co. brought its archives, craftspeople, and high-jewelry expertise. Together, they integrated 27 jewels and objects into the story, spanning historic, contemporary, and bespoke pieces. Mia Goth wore nearly all of them in her dual roles as Elizabeth Lavenza and Claire Frankenstein. Among the bespoke pieces was Elizabeth’s Cross, hand-engraved on the back with “Elizabeth” in Mary Shelley’s original handwriting and created for the performance. The partnership continued through key art, character posters, social storytelling, a behind-the-scenes featurette, premiere experiences, and the Netflix-led “Frankenstein: Crafting a Tale Eternal at Selfridges” exhibition. At The Landmark, Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship store, del Toro collaborated on five cinematic windows inspired by pivotal scenes from the film. The installation combined theatrical displays, digital animation, synchronized lightning, lighting developed with the film’s VFX team, and Alexandre Desplat’s film score, turning the street-level windows into an extension of Frankenstein. The campaign generated more than 10 million social impressions, 620 press mentions, $2 million in earned media value, and 37 million paid impressions through Netflix. Frankenstein later won the Oscar®, BAFTA, and CDG Award for Costume Design, underscoring the partnership's role in the film’s costume work.
