Stories from a Stranger is a weekly video and audio podcast from Hunter Prosper built around a simple idea: every stranger has a story worth hearing.
The series grew out of Hunter’s own experience as an ICU nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic. Looking for a way to cope with burnout and reconnect with people beyond the hospital, he began approaching strangers and asking them about the defining moments in their lives. Those intimate conversations resonated with millions online, growing into a social media community and a New York Times bestselling book.
Stories from a Stranger expands that format into longer, more intimate conversations. Each episode brings together portraits of real people connected by universal themes including love, loss, regret, illness, family and inspiration. Hunter also shares anonymously submitted confessions, creating another way for people to tell stories they may otherwise keep to themselves.
Rather than relying on celebrity or spectacle, the series puts ordinary people and their experiences at the center. By giving strangers the time and space to tell their stories in their own words, Hunter reveals the extraordinary experiences often hidden within everyday lives.
At its heart, Stories from a Stranger is about empathy and human connection — reminding audiences that the people we pass every day carry lives, memories and experiences we may never know unless we take the time to ask.
