Llanos: Tierra de Fútbol Libre is a two-part documentary series created by adidas that explores the grassroots origins of Mexican football through the “llanos”, informal pitches where generations have learned to play freely. Featuring Edson Álvarez, Javier Aguirre, Rafael Márquez and Gilberto Mora, the series connects the intimate stories of players, neighborhoods and communities with one of football’s most historic stages: the Estadio Azteca, the only stadium in the world to host three FIFA World Cup opening matches. Released as Mexico became the first country in history to host the FIFA World Cup three times, Llanos brings together past, present and future to celebrate the places, people and culture that continue to shape Mexican football.
