Every year, over 41.000 of runners start a marathon dehydrated without even knowing it. This leads to cramps that ultimately force them to drop out of the race. Gatorade, the main sports drink for keeping athletes hydrated, decided to raise awareness right before the starting line.
We turned the bathrooms at Buenos Aires’ marathons into the first urinable billboard that worked as a hydration test. Through a precise color scale, runners could identify their hydration level based on the color of their urine. If it was clear or transparent, they were ready to run. If it was darker, they needed to hydrate to prevent injuries.
Results:
+37,000 runners self-checked
With an estimated of 28.5x less budget than our competitors, we’ve reached 88.1% of all race participants
