To most Indians, India is not the pretty country as seen in tourism posters. It is brutal, grungy and street. We captured these contrasting realities with both painterly compositions, and a documentary aesthetic. So that it didn’t become plastic and unfeeling. The 1.55 aspect ratio helped us get closer to the art-documentary aesthetic. Shot on Sony Venice, with naturalistic lighting, and limiting the bursts of camera energy, the narrative showcases India in its truest form, evoking a profound appreciation for an often-overlooked metal.
