With this campaign, we unveil millennia of Andalusian history and culture for tourists willing to take on a destination as challenging as ANDALUSIA. To achieve this, the campaign features the renowned composer Hans Zimmer as its protagonist. The musician faces the challenge of creating an original composition worthy of Andalusia’s musical and cultural legacy—a score that encapsulates its roots, beliefs, and myths, conveying to international tourists, without resorting to stereotypes, the feeling of discovering Andalusia.
For this, the campaign features Hans Zimmer, the celebrated composer behind iconic soundtracks such as Interstellar, Gladiator, and The Lion King. As a master in creating atmospheres and new worlds, he was the ideal choice to take on the challenge of composing a piece that would be worthy of Andalusia’s musical and cultural heritage. He had to craft a score that captured its roots, beliefs, and myths, while transmitting to international tourists the emotions of discovering Andalusia, without falling into clichés.
The process of composing the score, leading to his ultimate surrender, is the core narrative of the spot, with Zimmer himself as the protagonist. At the beginning, the musician’s alter ego peers into a crevice, hearing a lament and a rhythmic sound: the strong blows of a hammer. He is witnessing the origins of flamenco (a music genre of Andalusian origin). From that moment, Zimmer’s surrender is conveyed through a melody where an epic cello leads the character into a dark alley, with no way out except to surrender to the music. Zimmer’s voiceover recounts his genuine surrender to the beauty of Andalusian sacred music, Eternidad, which ultimately overpowers his composition in the spot’s final moments.
