DOKI DOKI is a new audio studio specializing in the creation of sound and music for video games. The name comes from “Doki Doki” (ドキドキ), a common Japanese onomatopoeia for heart-pounding excitement. To launch the brand internationally, we created “Posters You Can Hear”, a minimalistic series of graphic posters that uses a simple typographic approach to create a universe of sound in the viewer’s imagination using common onomatopoeia from classic video games. WAKA WAKA. Using only one font in a single weight and all caps height, each poster uses type as a graphic device to create a universe of sound in the viewer’s imagination, perfectly communicating the studio’s promise to create a universe of sound for every video game they work on.
