The re-invention of Volkswagen’s classic microbus in all-electric form was the impetus behind aligning with SNL’s milestone 50th season to honor brand longevity and create an impactful pop culture moment in modern times. Together, The Californians branded content highlighted the personality of the ID. Buzz vehicle while maintaining the core elements fans have grown to love about Saturday Night Live’s The Californians sketch – inclusive of the comedic pronunciations, elaborate direction-giving, and beloved reoccurring characters throughout every iteration of the sketch over the past ten years. As an iconic celebration for the milestone 50th season of SNL, The Californians were transported to their ‘home’ state of California and outside of the 8H studio for the very first time with Volkswagen in the driver’s seat.
