Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) affects millions of men but is often underdiagnosed and undertreated. Common symptoms like stop-start urination are frequently dismissed as a normal part of aging rather than a medical issue. Flucisten Duo was developed to help manage BPH symptoms, but the condition has remained a low clinical priority among healthcare professionals, limiting its consideration in treatment decisions.
Our goal was to develop a campaign that would engage healthcare professionals regarding a condition they tend to pay less attention to. By transforming a urine stream into Morse code, we created a striking metaphor for one of the most recognizable symptoms of BPH: stop-start urination. The interrupted flow became a coded “message,” signaling that the body is trying to communicate that something is wrong. For an added, interactive element, we included a Morse code legend, giving viewers a way to decode the urine stream, which is a repeat of the letters “BPH.”
