TRUST BARS: WHEN HEINEKEN CLOSED THE BARS AND OPENED THE DOORS Madrid kicks off at 9 AM. London at 8 AM. But in Seoul, UEFA Champions League matches broadcast at 4 AM—when every bar in Korea is legally closed. As the main sponsor, Heineken faced an impossible question: How do you deliver the ultimate match-day experience when fans can't watch together? The answer required trusting an entire nation. Korea operates on "jeong" (정)—a cultural concept of collective social responsibility and mutual trust. We built everything on this single truth. Trust Bars: Real neighborhood bars, legally closed, but left completely open and unattended during matches. No bartenders. No security. No staff. Just custom Heineken self-service terminals where fans pour their own beers, pay digitally, and take collective responsibility for the space. Bar owners went home, trusting complete strangers with their businesses. The risk was real: actual inventory, property, financial liability. The result: Over 30,000 fans signed up. Trust Bars expanded across Seoul. Theft was virtually zero. Fans self-organized cleanup. The model is now expanding to Japan and Singapore. You can close the bars. But you can't lock out the fans.
