As the country’s national flag carrier, Air Canada’s values are intrinsically tied to Canadian values. And when it comes to showcasing those values and Canadian pride on the world stage, there is no comparable moment to the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Tyler’s Walk is the true story of Tyler McGregor, a Canadian Paralympian and captain of the 2026 Sledge Hockey team. Once an elite OHL prospect, Tyler's career abruptly ended when an in-game injury led to the discovery of aggressive bone cancer in his leg that required amputation. Forced to start over, his determination, resilience and pride never wavered. His story struck a chord, perfectly encapsulating what Air Canada stands for, and what Canadians need to hear right now. Rather than dramatize the story through traditional sports storytelling, the film focused on authenticity. We recreated the hospital corridor as a continuous, linear space, allowing Tyler’s Walk to unfold in front of the viewer. The hallway becomes both a literal setting and a metaphor, a place of uncertainty, reflection, and resolve that connects past and present through memory rather than exposition. The film was supported by a carefully considered craft approach. Set design, lighting, sound, editing, and VFX worked seamlessly to tell Tyler’s journey within a single environment, allowing memories to surface organically as Tyler moves forward. Every element served the story, avoiding spectacle in favour of emotional truth. Moments from Tyler’s life emerge within the hallway rather than cutting away from it. Real locations connected to his journey—including ice rinks and exterior environments—were captured separately and seamlessly integrated through invisible VFX. Past and present are quietly stitched together within single shots, creating a fluid sense of time that mirrors Tyler’s internal experience and turns a single hallway into a living record of his life.
