Signed Seared Delivered used an overlooked medium to confront Canada’s worsening wildfire crisis and the environmental health threats it posed. Instead of celebrating Canada’s natural beauty, a series of illustrated postcards showed cherished landmarks burned and desiccated, turning familiar imagery into an urgent call to action.
The cards were free, pre-addressed to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Natural Resources, and the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. Canadians could pick them up at independent retailers, from grassroots partners, or download printable files, then sign and mail them in seconds. By removing barriers, thousands of postcards were mailed, arriving in government offices where they were received, logged, and impossible to ignore.
The campaign went beyond awareness, giving Canadians a tangible way to hold decision makers accountable for environmental health policies and fossil fuel oversight. Media coverage and amplification from climate advocates spread the story nationally and internationally, but the real impact was in the act itself. Signed Seared Delivered turned the familiar postcard into a protest tool and demonstrated that traditional direct mail, used not-traditionally, can still create meaningful civic pressure.
