Cracked is a wordless animated film that challenges the perception of “cage-free” eggs.
The story follows a hen whose peaceful world gradually collapses into an industrial system of confinement. Told entirely through visual progression, the film moves from open, organic environments to tightly controlled, mechanical spaces.
To bring this transformation to life, the animation was created using a custom glass lightbox inspired by egg candling. Layered acetate cels were filmed in stop-motion, allowing light, depth, and distortion to physically compress the space as the story unfolds.
The result is a tactile, immersive experience where the environment itself becomes a reflection of confinement—turning animation into a physical expression of the film’s central idea.
