OCDopus was submitted in the mental health category because it addresses Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, a widespread yet often invisible condition that can make everyday actions like leaving home overwhelming due to compulsive checking. Built on the insight that the need for reassurance is valid but unresolved, the project reframes checking as confirmation: physical buttons on triggering objects log actions in an app, allowing users to verify tasks remotely and reduce the urge to return. The creative process combines behavioral therapy principles with intuitive design, using optional challenges and a calm visual identity centered on the OCDopus mascot to foster reassurance, increase control, and support the gradual reduction of compulsive habits.
