The Insight: Sports fans understand scale through stadiums. Capacity, attendance and filled seats are far more meaningful than abstract statistics. By visualizing 32 years of cumulative gun violence deaths as occupied stadium seats, the campaign transformed an invisible crisis into something immediate, emotional and impossible to ignore.
The Campaign: Timed to coincide with the FIFA World Cup's return to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years, the campaign ran across World Cup host states ahead of the World Cup. With FIFA prohibiting advertising by unofficial sponsors inside stadiums, the team turned the surrounding areas into its media canvas. Mobile digital trucks circled stadium perimeters, LED backpacks reached fans in transit hubs and fan zones, while posters, bus shelters, local newspaper print ads and Univision.com banners extended the campaign's reach. Every execution was customized with the host state's World Cup stadium, highlighting seats in red to represent lives lost to gun violence and making the issue deeply local and personal.
The Message: "Fill the Ballots. Not the Stadiums." A simple sports metaphor that reframed voting as an act of collective power, turning the energy of fandom into civic action.
Results: The campaign generated 570,000 impressions, including 378,562 from mobile digital trucks, 100,000 from digital banners, 50,000 from LED backpack activations and 27,110 from bus shelter advertising. By meeting fans where they naturally gathered, the campaign transformed one of the world's biggest sporting events into a platform for voter engagement and gun violence awareness.
