On June 14, 2026, Haiti returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1974. To mark it, the Haitian Football Federation marked the historic moment with the nation's official World Cup film.
The film begins with a moment steeped in nostalgia, a boy carrying a baton onto the pitch in 1974, and passes that baton forward across generations. Shot on 16mm, Polaroid, and digital and directed by Leo Volcy and scored by Michael Brun's "Gaya," Kreyol for healing, made entirely through Haitian voices, rooted in Konpa and Rara.
The film reached 2.4M views, was widely shared online, and earned coverage from The FADER and Complex, becoming part of a larger cultural moment for Haiti.
