For the first time in 28 years, Norway had qualified for the FIFA World Cup.
In a country where football is the biggest sport, an entire generation had never experienced the men's national team on the world's biggest stage. Despite producing global stars like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, Norway had spent nearly three decades waiting for this moment. The World Cup was one of the most anticipated events in modern Norwegian football, and the squad announcement was an important mile stone.
Our objective was to turn that moment into something bigger - a national moment.
Instead of putting the spotlight on the players, we put it on the people who made them possible. Through the concept “Norway's Team”, we travelled across the country, from Arctic football pitches to coastal fishing communities, revealing each player through their hometowns, grassroots clubs, coaches, volunteers and childhood role models.
The film connected world-famous athletes to the communities that shaped them and celebrated the volunteer-driven grassroots culture that makes Norwegian football unique.
To elevate the announcement into a shared national experience, the story features Norway’s beloved King Harald wishing the 26 players selected to represent Norway good luck at its first World Cup since 1998. It turned a sporting moment into a cultural one. It was the start of a bigger campaign that paved the way for Norway’s solid presence during the World Cup and viral moments with rowing through for the World.
The squad announcement became a story about identity, values, community, and a nation returning to the world's biggest stage. And it ended with a declaration to the world: Norway is coming!
