“Nothing Stops Women’s Rugby” turns the stereotypes and barriers that have long held the sport back into a bold entertainment story. The film opens in the 1970s, with a caricatured all-male brainstorming session where men in suits put forward absurd “brilliant” ideas to prevent women from playing rugby, symbolizing the cultural and societal barriers of the time.
The narrative then shifts to powerful contemporary images of French female players: intense training, spectacular skills, demanding conditions, the challenge of balancing sport with work and studies, and sexist remarks. Yet none of these barriers stop them. They keep moving forward. And they prevail.
Blending sharp comedy with breathtaking sport, the film celebrates the strength and determination of female athletes, while highlighting the power of support and role models: young girls watch, are inspired and take up rugby themselves.
Since 2025, AXA has been the French Rugby Federation’s first brand partner supporting elite women’s rugby in France, as Official Insurer of the French Women’s National Team and title partner of the “AXA Élite 1” championship.
Women’s rugby is no longer simply growing: it is attracting audiences, bringing people together and inspiring passion. But to turn this momentum into a lasting movement, one thing remains essential: making visible the women shaping the sport today. Because what we see inspires us to dare. And what we see embodied makes us believe it is possible. 89% of French people believe role models play a key role in encouraging young girls to participate in sport, according to a 2024 Sporsora study.
This conviction is at the heart of AXA’s partnership with the French Rugby Federation: without visibility, there are no aspirations; without aspirations, there is no participation. AXA has therefore chosen to focus exclusively on women’s rugby, supporting the entire ecosystem in France, from amateur clubs to international competitions.
To take this commitment further, AXA gave women’s rugby unprecedented visibility through an ambitious campaign and a 3min+ landmark film, launched on April 11 for the Women’s Six Nations and broadcast on France TV.
For AXA, women’s rugby is a powerful way to address the broader issue of women’s participation in sport, embodied in one clear promise: AXA supports women on every field.
