For 53 years, Walt “Clyde” Frazier represented the last generation of New York Knicks champions. When the New York Knicks finally won again, Michelob ULTRA turned that history into a moment that connected generations. As the official beer sponsor of the New York Knicks and a longtime part of NBA culture, ULTRA had a meaningful role in the celebration. Just one minute after the final buzzer, two Times Square billboards brought Clyde and Jalen Brunson together across two screens. Clyde passed a basketball, and the legacy of 1973, to Brunson, the team’s Finals MVP and the face of a new generation. The image captured a once-impossible moment in real time and quickly became part of the celebration itself. Fans shared and recreated the image across social media globally, while earned media helped carry it far beyond Times Square. After 53 years, the pass was finally complete.
