A FILM FOR THE FUTURE, the visual accompaniment to Coldplay’s No 1 album Moon Music, was created by over 150 different visual artists from 45 countries. Each artist was given a handful of music snippets from Moon Music and asked to create corresponding visuals. There were no rules or guidelines, and no knowledge of other artists’ creations. Executive producer Ben Mor, who also directed Coldplay and Beyoncé in 2016’s Hymn For The Weekend video, says the result is “a kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt – a 44 minute multimedia tapestry.”
The Lightroom collaboration meant that fans could experience the film fully immersed within the visual and audio experience, brought to life through state-of-the-art audio technology and 11m high projection across 4 walls and the floor. The first run took place in London, Manchester and Seoul at the start of 2025, before returning again to London around Coldplay’s historic record-breaking run of ten Wembley stadium shows. The second run of screenings formed part of a London takeover, also featuring post-show talks, a free Music Of The Spheres World Tour photography exhibition, and Coldplay tour merchandise.
The visual accompaniment to the No 1 album Moon Music, A FILM FOR THE FUTURE has been described as ‘spectacular’ (Time Out), ‘mesmerising’ (NME) and ‘pushing musical boundaries’ (The Metro).
