In India, 1 in 5 school children suffer from blurry vision. Children with blurry vision go on with life thinking their vision is normal and that’s how everyone sees. Ek Tara Project addresses this issue by turning vision screening into play. Inspired by an ancient star-spotting test once used to pick hunters with the sharpest vision, the Ek Tara Test is a glow-in-the-dark card that helps children identify vision problems while stargazing. By collaborating with schools across India, Titan Eye+ transformed stargazing into the most accessible vision-screening method. Children who took the Ek Tara Test further received free and complete eye tests from Titan Eye+ optometrists, who then prescribed spectacles where vision correction was needed.
