At the intersection of biotechnology, material science, and environmental responsibility, Living Fabric represents a breakthrough in nature-inspired innovation. Developed in collaboration with the Universidad de los Andes, this solution combines the unique bioremediative power of Lysinibacillus sphaericus—a naturally occurring bacterium capable of metabolizing hydrocarbons—with advanced textile engineering to create a biodegradable, scalable response to oil spills. By embedding live organisms within a fabric made from natural fique fibres, we have reimagined environmental cleanup as a living, breathing process. This is not only changing how oil spills are addressed in Colombia but also setting a precedent for sustainable biotechnological solutions around the world.
