The main objective was to protect women’s lives by transforming entertainment into a public health tool capable of generating awareness and behavioral change around HPV — a disease that disproportionately affects women, particularly in contexts where gaps in information, access, and open conversation about intimate health persist.
This initiative deserves to win in the Health Equity category because it addressed an issue that primarily impacts women and is often surrounded by stigma, misinformation, and unequal access to prevention. In Colombia, seven women die every day from cervical cancer, according to Globocan (IARC). The film’s title, El Siete Mujeres, was born from this statistic — a direct reminder of a reality that does not affect all populations equally.
By using cinema as the vehicle, we reached audiences who do not typically engage in formal medical conversations. In a context where the law restricts direct communication about vaccines, the strategy democratized access to information, broke cultural barriers, and encouraged active questions about prevention and vaccination.
The impact went beyond awareness; it drove medical consultations, intergenerational dialogue, and informed decision-making — actively contributing to reducing inequities in women’s health.
