In October 2025, Kaiser Permanente (KP) launched A Better Idea for Health Care, a new brand platform designed to reestablish the organization as a category leader moving the health care industry forward. “Moving All to One” served as the anthemic launch film, introducing the platform and setting the creative and strategic foundation for the work. Amidst record dissatisfaction with the U.S. health care system and a category where all options are perceived to be the same, KP needed to break through and show consumers, not just tell, how its integrated care model delivers a fundamentally better experience. By bringing doctors, specialists, pharmacies, and health plans together within one coordinated system, KP simplifies care, reduces friction, and improves outcomes in ways consumers can actually feel. To make this difference tangible and memorable, the anthem film was brought to life through handcrafted stop-motion animation and bespoke character builds. This approach intentionally rejected category conventions of clinical language and sleek, abstract digital animation, and broke through the sea of sameness with something warmer, simpler, and more human. Inspired by a line from the creative manifesto, “If you had to dream up a better version of health care, you’d imagine KP,” the tactile craft visualized imagined solutions to everyday health care frustrations, revealing that these “better ideas” already exist within KP’s integrated model. KP tapped into nostalgia in a modern way that mirrors its longstanding authentic, human-centric approach and commitment to advancing health. By the numbers, the work was built from 42 miniature buildings, 24 puppets, 16 filing cabinets, 11 sets, 36 pairs of blue legs, and even 3 miniature cows, each detail underscoring the scale and care behind the production. In stop motion, every set, character, costume, movement, and emotion has to be created from scratch. That meticulous, hands-on process brings extraordinary craft to the work, transforming a figment of imagination into something tangible, playful, and deeply human. Centered on a relatable patient experience framed by a simple “What if?” question, “Moving All to One” unfolds through character-driven storytelling and handcrafted world-building that make an otherwise complex health care system feel accessible, personal and real, demonstrating how integrated care can turn fragmented experiences into something seamless and human.
