On New Year’s Eve, millions of people gather on the Champs-Élysées or watch the official countdown projected onto the Arc de Triomphe, organized by the City of Paris.
To raise awareness of the new law on road homicide, the Association Antoine Alléno transformed this iconic moment into a prevention message. The intervention was made possible with the support of the City of Paris.
The monument displayed “2036”, symbolizing the 10-year prison sentence for driving under the influence and causing death, instead of the upcoming year. The message followed :
“Tonight, no alcohol or drugs while driving. Take care of yourself and others.”
Thousands of people on-site witnessed the intervention live, and many shared it in real time on social media, extending the message beyond the physical event.
By turning a national celebration into a moment of reflection, the campaign made a legal reality visible at the exact moment when it matters most.
