Amazon’s familiar cardboard delivery boxes are a symbol of convenience in modern India. But at Maha Kumbh 2025 - the ultimate amalgamation of the many Indias - urban, semi-rural and rural, the same cardboard boxes took on a different shape to deliver the only form of convenience that devotees wanted - a warm bed to sleep on, amidst the severe cold wave. Partnering with the state government, 76,000 sq.m. of Amazon delivery boxes were sanitized and re-engineered with an interlocking, multi-layered design, into ergonomic and durable beds. Cardboard being a natural insulator, provided relief from the cold to the elderly and vulnerable users of these free-to-use beds. An integrated campaign drove awareness for these beds, placed at multiple important zones of the festival. Post Maha Kumbh, the beds were donated to different NGOs for underprivileged children. Ensuring that the beds continue serving a purpose.
